Mimesis

“Mimesis” is the third track on Fontaines D.C.’s fifth studio album, Dopamine Chamber, released on October 16, 2026. The song’s title comes from the Ancient Greek word mīmēsis, meaning “imitation” or “representation”. In philosophy and literary theory, the term describes the way people imitate others, represent reality through art, or model their behaviour and desires on those around them. The song explores themes of emotional disconnection, identity and the desire for external validation. “Mimesis” can be understood as the reflection on the difference between genuine connection and the compulsive pursuit of external validation.
