SKY CITY

“SKY CITY” originated during sessions for Ye’s abandoned ninth studio album, Yandhi. The song and the album was worked on from 2018 to 2019. It was left in the dark until 2021, when CyHi was given the song and recorded two reference verses for Ye. Controversially, the first of those verses were put through an artificial filter to replicate Ye’s voice. The track, as its title suggests, ponders around the idea of Heaven. ¥$, alongside CyHi, Desiigner, 070 Shake, and The-Dream build a utopia where everybody has a place to be happy. Whether it be CyHi’s vision of rejoining his family and ancestors, or Ye’s hopes of making a place for children to be free—all backgrounds can join in harmony.
